Luminara by Bindu Unnikrishnan-Review by Ankush Bharti

 About the Author:

Having known Binduji through her association with The Holistic Pine, I was truly eager to  read her latest poetry collection. She is an extremely beautiful ,talented and a versatile writer whose words carry both authenticity and depth.

Her second poetry collection, Luminara-Poetry that touches the Soul, highlights her talent for merging deep self-reflection with themes that resonate universally. The poems brim with heartfelt authenticity and graceful lyricism, courageously touching on love, yearning, empowerment, and socially sensitive topics.

What I admire most about Bindu’s writing is her deep empathy and understanding of the human mind, which shines through effortlessly in her verses. Her poetry not only addresses contemporary issues but also celebrates women—their strength, their vulnerabilities, and their emotions—in a way that feels intimate and healing.

Crux of the Book:

Luminara by Bindu Unnikrishnan is one of those rare books that feels deeply relatable from the very first page. Its simple yet elegant language beautifully captures the essence of human emotions. Bindu writes about heartbreak, resilience, and unspoken love with a grace that comes only from having truly lived those experiences. Her understanding of emotions is mature and profound, making it feel as though you are listening to your own inner voice—the part of you that believes writing can heal.

This collection of 75 heartfelt poems is divided into seven thematic stages, guiding readers through love, longing, heartbreak, resilience, liberation, and self-realization. With raw honesty and evocative imagery, Bindu explores unspoken sorrows, fading relationships, societal pressures, and the quiet strength that comes from vulnerability.

Structured into seven thematic stages, this collection guides readers through love, yearning, heartbreak, resilience, freedom, and self-discovery. With unfiltered honesty and vivid imagery, the poems delve into silent griefs, drifting relationships, social limitations, and the hidden strength born from vulnerability. Infused with hope and empowerment, Luminara is more than just a compilation of poems—it is a heartfelt journey that reflects the reader’s own pains and victories, offering comfort and motivation throughout.

Some of my personal favorites include The Inexpensive Treasure, where she beautifully reflects on a watch her father gifted her after she excelled in school, evoking heartfelt memories of their time together. On the other hand, poems like Set Me Free and The Tempest Within explore the inner struggles that women often face. Pieces like Being a Woman and No More Chains celebrate womanhood and empowerment. While reading this book, you may notice a touch of repetition, but perhaps that’s simply the nature of human emotions. Each poem feels deeply relatable and resonates in its own way.

Woven with threads of hope and empowerment, Luminara is not just a poetry collection—it’s an emotional journey that reflects our own struggles and triumphs, offering comfort, connection, and inspiration along the way.

Final Verdict:

Luminara is more than just a collection of poems; it is an emotional journey that heals, empowers, and makes you pause to reflect. Bindu’s words feel like a gentle conversation with the soul—raw, relatable, and deeply moving. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves poetry that speaks truthfully and lingers in the heart long after the last page is turned.
