DIVYA VISION: A Story Beyond Eyes

Divya Sharma

The April edition's cover story serves as a testament to the notion that some occurrences in life are fated to unfold. My journey with Divya commenced through my social media following of her, which ultimately culminated in her being featured on the magazine's cover.

Typically, our team invests months of arduous effort to select the ideal cover face. For March, we featured Mamata Tai, the daughter of Padma Shri Sindhutai Sapkal. As the March issue's release approached, we were faced with the question of who would grace the cover of the April edition.

Upon presenting my colleagues with Divya's page, they readily agreed that she would be a perfect choice. The title of the cover story, "A Vision Beyond Eyes," encapsulates its essence beautifully. Divya is an example of how vision is not just about material success. It is also about aligning our lives with our deepest values and spiritual goals. When we have a clear vision of what we want to accomplish in life, we can make choices that are in alignment with that vision, and live our lives with greater purpose and meaning.

Divya Sharma is an exceptional woman hailing from the quaint city of 'Naya Nangal' in Punjab. She is visually challenged due to Glaucoma. Her journey was not without challenges as in the seventh grade, she was unjustly expelled from school due to her visual impairment. To make matters worse, none of the schools in her city would grant her admission due to her disability. However, she refused to let these setbacks define her and went on to earn an MA in English from Punjab University, proving her resilience and determination.

Presently, she is a flourishing freelance writer, with a vast clientele spread across the globe. Her contributions extend beyond her professional life, as she is also a passionate advocate for the disabled community, a prolific contributor to various reputed magazines and newspapers, a motivational speaker, a Blue Belt in Karate, and an RJ and Content Manager of the esteemed online Radio Station, Radio Udaan. The station, which is run by visually challenged individuals, has listeners spanning 115 countries. Divya hosts three weekly shows on the station - 'Inspirational Wings,' 'Vocabulary Dose,' and 'Mystery of 26' - with the noble aim of inspiring, empowering, and enriching lives, while also helping listeners enhance their English skills.

Divya's relentless efforts and contributions have earned her recognition and accolades, including the prestigious Punjab State Award in 2016, the 7th NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Award in 2016, and the Award of Honour from National Fertilizers Limited in August 2016, among other esteemed honours.

If you are feeling low due to the uncertainties of life and failures, I want you to know that you're not alone. Failures and setbacks are common in life, but it's crucial to understand that they're temporary. Every setback can serve as a springboard for progress. Consider your previous achievements and successes for a moment. Keep in mind the challenges you faced to accomplish those successes. To overcome the difficulties you are currently facing, apply the same tenacity and resilience. Divya is the perfect person one can draw inspiration from.
